The Local Collective, LLC is a community-powered coworking and gathering space in Weaverville, NC. We provide shared workspace, resources, and events for artists, organizers, freelancers, neighbors, and anyone building a more connected world.
This document outlines how we keep the space welcoming, safe, and useful for everyone who walks through the door.
1. Membership & Access

Membership is open to individuals 18+ who agree to these terms

Guest of yours may receive 1 day pass on their first visit.

Subsequent visits from the same guest will require the purchase of a day pass or membership.

Your access to the space and amenities depends on your membership level
-
24-hour access is only available through a limited, separate membership tier and may be revoked if misused

Please do not share your access credentials—this includes door codes, app logins, or any non-public information about The Local Collective

In rare cases where community agreements are not upheld, we may pause or end someone’s access
2. Respect & Community Standards
We ask everyone who uses the space to:

Treat fellow members, staff, and guests with respect and care

Use inclusive, non-discriminatory language and behavior

Ask for consent before touching anyone or interrupting their work—respecting focus, autonomy, and personal space

Clean up after themselves and leave shared spaces ready for the next person

Please don’t photograph, film, or record others in the space without their explicit consent

Honor reservation times for bookable rooms—arrive when your booking starts and wrap up on time to avoid cutting into someone else’s use

Keep the private phone booth available by limiting use to two hours at a time and being mindful of others who may need to make or take calls

The Local Collective is rooted in values of queer and trans liberation, racial equity, accessibility, and body neutrality. We are committed to actively building a space where LGBTQIA+ folks, Black and brown community members, disabled folks, and people of all body types and backgrounds are safe, welcome, and celebrated.

We maintain a zero tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind.
3. Communication & Care
We believe shared spaces work best when folks feel empowered to speak up, ask questions, and care for each other.

If you notice something that needs attention—whether it’s a repair, a safety issue, or a community dynamic—we want to hear about it

If you experience or witness a conflict, discomfort, or harm, you don’t have to navigate it alone. We’re here to help and support resolution with care

You can talk to a team member in person or reach out via email—we’ll listen and respond with respect

This is a shared space, and it’s also a shared effort. Your voice helps shape it.

4. Use of Space

Use the space for lawful and community-aligned purposes only
-
This is a substance-free space: no drugs or alcohol are permitted on the premises (unless it is a Local Collective sponsored event).

Smoking and vaping are not allowed indoors
-
We welcome service animals as defined by the ADA. Other animals, including emotional support animals, are not permitted in the space at this time

Equipment and supplies are shared—please be mindful and return or clean up after use
-
Treat furniture, tools, and shared resources with care
5. Payment & Cancellation

Memberships are billed monthly or annually, depending on your plan
-
If your payment method fails, we’ll reach out and give you time to update it
-
You may cancel your membership at any time through the CoWorks app
-
For month-to-month memberships, refunds will be issued if payment was taken within 7 days of the cancellation request. If a cancellation request was submitted 7 days after the latest payment has been processed, then a refund will not be issued.

Due to the upfront discount received for annual memberships, refunds will not be issued, and your membership will remain active until the end of your contracted term.
6. Privacy & Data

We respect your privacy—we don’t sell or share your personal information

Your contact details may be used to send you updates about the space, events, or membership info

We use CoWorks software to manage memberships and access. By using CoWorks, you also agree to their separate Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Security cameras are in use in some common areas for safety reasons—they are not monitored live and are only reviewed if needed for safety or accountability
7. Safety & Personal Belongings

​Members use the space at their own risk and release the The Local Collective from liability for injury or theft.

We do our best to maintain a safe, accessible, and comfortable space

If something breaks or feels unsafe, let us know so we can fix it quickly

8. Creative Ownership
What you create here is yours. Whether you’re working on art, writing, design, code, or something else entirely—The Local Collective makes no claim of ownership over your projects, content, or intellectual property.
We exist to support your work, not to profit from it.
9. Changes to These Terms
We’ll let you know if any big changes are made to these terms. Continuing to use the space after updates means you agree to the latest version.
